#23: Tomatoes
Supermarket tomatoes look flawless—round, red, durable enough to survive shipping across countries. The problem is they were bred for exactly that, not for taste. What you get is a firm, photogenic fruit that often tastes watery and bland. Older varieties were softer, more fragile, and far more flavorful. Now, tomatoes win on appearance and logistics—but lose where it actually matters: taste.
