Purple Carrots Are A Thing
We have our expectations of what certain foods should look like. This has led to things like mutations in fruits and vegetables, to satisfy the fact that we eat as much with our eyes as we do with our mouths.
The carrots we eat today, the orange ones, are a result of 17th century Dutch farmers who are said to have cultivated mutated carrots. The carrots they cultivated include the orange-color ones we consume today. Before this, historical records reflect that carrots were purple. If you happen to be in Southern Europe or Asia – you might be accustomed to this color carrot.
