McDonald’s Discontinues Onion Nuggets
You heard us right. Onion nuggets. Not to be confused with McDonald’s much-loved McNuggets, its onion nuggets are no longer in production. What a shame – onion nuggets do sound really delicious!
In the 1970s, the fast-food giant offered what it called onion nuggets for a brief period. Sort of like a trial run. The bite-sized bits of onion were deep-fried, and by all accounts, tasty. They just never really took off after making their debut in select markets. This led to the creation of the McNuggets we know and love today, which continue to outperform most of its menu items.
No More Jell-O Molds
Looking back, the 1970s were an odd time. There was no shortage of recipes that included regular food molded and formed into Jell-O. This is not a concept that made it very far past those years, thankfully.
But it all started in the 1950s when Jell-O advertised their first gelatin recipe. What you see here is called the sequin salad, which featured lime Jell-O with cauliflower and red peppers. The recipe called for both the ingredients to get soaked in vinegar before getting introduced to the Jell-O mold. That sounds and looks disgusting. This was normal back then, thankfully it never caught on.
