Best Mistake, Ever!
We have already explored the idea of a mistake turning into an iconic snack or food that’s made its way into the hearts of Americans. Did you know that the Toll House cookie was a mistake? This one caught us by surprise, but we weren’t mad once we found out the story that led to one of America’s favorite snacks.
In the year 1930, the owner of the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts, Ruth Wakefield, simply added some semisweet chocolate chips to her cookie dough. Ruth assumed the chocolate chips would melt, but boy was she wrong! They stayed the same shape, and she later sold the recipe to Nestle.
