Beef Fat-Fried McDonald’s Fries
If you are a vegan, you know just how difficult it can be to avoid animal products. If you were a vegan before the year 1990 who enjoyed the occasional McDonald’s fry or two, well, you could not.
That is because before that year – all french fries sold at McDonald’s were fried in beef fat, giving them their signature flavor. In 1990, McDonald’s switched over to the use of vegetable oil, opting for a more health-conscious choice, if you can even call it that. Thankfully, their fries still taste delicious and billions of people around the world enjoy them daily.
