Extra Moomin meat, please
We’re going to talk a lot about the weirdness of the Finnish language, so we apologize in advance to any Finns reading this. Tom Walton shared a rather interesting fact about the language that has confused everybody for the last zillion years. Apparently, Finns jokingly refer to mozzarella, the prolific cheese used on pizzas, as Moomin meat.
For those who don’t know, Moomin is a book series for kids that star the fantastical creatures known as Moomin. While calling mozzarella Moomin meat is a little morbid for our taste, Moomin folk do look quite similar to mounds of fresh mozzarella. Do you know what they call cottage cheese? Ground Moomin.
