#7: The Deluxe Talkboy from Home Alone 2 (1992)
Christmas 1993 was not kind to parents looking for one particular cassette recorder. Stores sold out in minutes, Target reportedly stopped issuing rain checks after tens of thousands of requests, and Tiger Electronics pushed its Hong Kong factory into 24-hour production while customer calls flooded the company. The story is even more interesting because a popular memory about the Talkboy is wrong. Tiger had worked with John Hughes and 20th Century Fox before Home Alone 2: Lost in New York reached theaters, and a retail model was always part of the plan.
