#2: Nike MAG shoes from Back to the Future Part II (1989)
The future arrived early for the shoes and late for the laces. Marty McFly stepped into Nike’s futuristic high-tops during Back to the Future Part II, and for years they belonged to that tantalizing category of movie technology that looked just plausible enough to make people want it immediately. Nike later acknowledged that it had been urged to release the MAG “for many years.” In 2011, the company finally produced 1,500 pairs closely modeled on the screen design, complete with the glowing elements, and auctioned them to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
