Different Words, Same Meaning
Visiting a new country can come with its ups and downs. You might be culture shocked when you’re looking for a similar product in a country that doesn’t have the same name as where you’re from. If you don’t speak the common language in the country you’re visiting, this could be even more of a hassle.
While visiting Hong Kong from the United States, the visitor looked for a common first-aid item. In the U.S. they are called Band-Aids, but for weeks the visitor couldn’t find them or anyone who knew what they were referring to. To their relief, someone helped educate the visitor on the proper term for them in Hong Kong.
