Pointing in the Right Direction
Distinct differences in cultures are often noticeable right away. It’s the subtle differences that we tend to overlook or feel confused by. Especially when you’re trying to ask for directions and find out where to go. In some cultures, people will use head nods, full-body gestures, or their feet to guide you in the direction you seek.
A tourist visiting Malaysia happened to notice a subtle difference that they used to direct you. Malaysians tend to use their thumbs to tell you where to sign or the direction you are looking for. As opposed to using a pointer finger, the tourist was culture shocked because they used their thumb in the same aspect.
