“If you build it, they will come” is a famous phrase, meaning that if you make something of value, people will be attracted to it. It’s said to have its origins in the Noah’s Ark Bible story, but the exact quote was never said in the Good Book.

Ray Kinsella, the film’s protagonist, has a strained relationship with his late father and hears a voice saying, “If you build it, he will come. ” He believes the “he” is his father and must build a baseball field.
