“A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do” is a common idiom, and variations of it have been said before, such as in the novelization of The Grapes of Wrath. But John Wayne never said this in Hondo. A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, and this man’s gotta tell you when you’re quoting something wrong.
