#17: Aït Benhaddou – Morocco
The fortified village of Aït Benhaddou became Yunkai during Daenerys’ campaign across Essos. Located near Ouarzazate, the settlement has welcomed traders traveling across the Sahara for centuries and earned UNESCO World Heritage status in 1987. Homes, towers, and defensive walls were built with traditional clay construction methods that still define the village today. The best time to visit is spring and fall, which usually bring the most comfortable temperatures for walking.
