#13: Joan Bennett
The star of film noir classics like The Woman in the Window (1944) put her celebrity to work against fascism. As an active member of the Hollywood Writers Mobilization, Joan Bennett collaborated with the OSS on morale operations. Her work went deeper, because she used her reputation to host secret, high-dollar fundraisers. The money from these events was used to finance underground anti-fascist propaganda rings that were operating inside occupied Europe.
