No Cell Phones Until 2008
We’d like to end this list on a strange note. Did you know that Cubans weren’t allowed to own cell phones until 2008? The ban on privately owned cell phones was lifted when the ban on PCs was. So, Cubans are pretty late to the cell phone game, but they came right in time to when Nokia was being phased out by Samsung and Apple.
It’s just a shame that so few places have reliable internet connections. Citizens mainly have to rely on public hotspots or mobile data to get into arguments in the YouTube comments section.
