Free and Mandatory Education
Besides being a tropical paradise where you can snorkel, surf, and meet exotic creatures, there’s another very good reason why we’re envious of Cuba: education. Education in Cuba has ranked among some of the best in the world for many years. Seeing as how education up to 16 years old (about 10th or 11th grade) is mandatory and free, we can totally see why that is.
It’s clear that Cuba takes its education seriously, what with the old literacy brigades and all. But did you know that the police will drag people into the classroom that they caught ditching class, or at the very least, report it to the student’s mother?
