Baseball Is the Official Sport
What do you think the official sport is in Cuba? Most of you guys, us included, would answer soccer or football if you hail from Europe. However, you’d be wrong. As the title above clearly shows, baseball is the country’s favorite pastime, for some strange reason.
It’s strange to think that a sport that’s almost completely dead here is thriving in Cuba. Legend has it that Cubans took a liking to baseball over bullfighting, which was introduced to the country by Spanish rulers. Baseball represented a level of freedom that they could only dream of before finally achieving it in 1898 and officially in 1902.
