JFK Purchased 1,200 Cuban Cigars
It was during John F. Kennedy’s time as president that Cuba became our closest enemy in the most literal sense. American spy planes noticed nuclear missiles belonging to the Soviet Union, but they were being constructed in Cuba. Not long after, the tensions between the USA and Cuba reached an all-time high.
But before the USA stopped doing business with Cuba, JFK made sure to place an order of 1,200 Cuban cigars. In fact, he placed his order a mere nine hours before the embargo was to go into effect. He could’ve warned the rest of the country, and maybe we all could’ve gotten a deal by buying in bulk. Thanks, JFK.
