The CIA Tried to Poison Castro’s Cigars
Fidel Castro was a huge Cohiba cigar guy. He reportedly starting smoking at the young age of 15 years old, when his father introduced him to his first cigar. Sounds pretty horrendous for us living in the States, but hey, to each their own. Anyway, he loved cigars so much that the CIA tried to turn them against him.

In 1960, the CIA attempted to assassinate the Communist leader by spiking his cigars with a dose of botulinum toxin, which could’ve killed a person in mere hours. The CIA handed it over to a mysterious deliveryman who vanished and was never heard from again. Maybe the CIA forgot to tell him that the cigars were laced, and he was tempted to puff on one.
