50+ Strange, Awesome, and Fun Facts about Cuba You Might Not Have Known

June 25, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Son Cubano

You’re probably most familiar with salsa music, a genre of music that originated from Latin America. However, did you know that salsa isn’t the most popular music genre? That spot belongs to Son Cubano. Like other music genres native to Cuba, Son Cubano has both Spanish and African influences.

Son Cubano first came to prominence in the late 19th century, but it wasn’t until the band, Buena Vista Special Club, made it an international thing.
