#9: English Excellence
I love to travel to new countries. And because of that, I have become very aware of the fact that I am insanely lucky to speak English natively. After all, English functions as a lingua franca, a world language, for people all over the world. If people who don’t speak the same language get together, there’s a good chance they will use English to communicate.

And that means that it doesn’t matter as much that I have forgotten nearly everything I learned in my college German classes. I get to benefit from other people’s hard work in their English classes in school. So thanks, parents, for raising me in an English-speaking country!
