#3: The 19th Month
Here’s another thing we do differently than most countries. This one causes me no end of grief. In America, when you’re writing a date in ##/##/## format, the standard is to put the month first, then the day, i.e. 10/19/20, because this is how you’d read the date: “October 19, 2020.”

In some other countries, though, you put the day first, then the month, as in 19/10/20, because… well, I don’t know why. Maybe there they do actually say “19 October, 2020.” This is one where I would happily vote for the US to conform to the other standard; I’m not that tied to either one, I just wish we would all make up our minds.
