#15: Numbers are Hard
Look, math is already a hard subject. Why do we need to bring the confusing English language into it?! This post is complaining about how confusing and different written forms of numbers are. For example, why is it spelled “forty” and not “FOURty” since it has the same sound as the smaller number, “four”?

There is honestly no clear answer for any of these questions. It may be because of the way language evolved over time, adapting to the way people spoke in the real world. Some things stick and others don’t, which is why there seem to be inconsistent rules for spelling numbers. Maybe we can all agree to just write the numerical versions instead?
