#12: It’s Data, Duh
Even within the English language, English speakers have different ways of pronouncing the exact same word. Usually, words are pronounced differently based on region or country. The UK and the US, for example, have a ton of words that are pronounced differently even though they are both English-speaking countries.
This tweet is something almost every English speaker will immediately understand. The original poster asks, “Y’all pronounce it data or data?” This looks weird written out because it’s the same word, but most of us know some people pronounce “data” with a long “a” while some pronounce it with a short “a.” Neither way is right or wrong, but it’s sparked many a conflict among English speakers around the world, we’re sure.
