27. Loading the dishwasher
We don’t give a lot of thought to how we load the dishwasher – it’s another one of those things that seem pretty self-explanatory – but it turns out you can write an entire philosophy about loading the dishwasher properly. Most people don’t know that dishwashers are designed in such a way that specific parts are designed to clean certain kinds of foods.
For example, foods that are high in protein – such as meat, fish and eggs – are supposed to be placed on the outer rim, while foods rich with carbs – such as dairy products, fruit and sweets – should go in the center. We’re not saying you should study the history of dishwashers, but just keep that in mind next time you load the machine all willy nilly.
