For That Special Someone
A hilarious and classic moment in Elf is when Buddy misinterprets what “for a special someone” means when gifting women’s lingerie. Because he is so naive and innocent, he takes this as literal and gifts it to someone special to him, his father.
Of course, Buddy’s dad, Walter, was confused with the gift when he got it. But that did not stop him from regifting Buddy’s gift. In one scene you can see that he has passed it on to his wife, who is certainly a more appropriate recipient of such a gift. Hopefully Buddy doesn’t make that mistake again.
