#9: Corroded Compressed Air Torpedo Flasks (D-Day Landing Craft Wrecks)
The seabed off the Normandy coast is littered with wrecks from the D-Day landings of June 6, 1944. Many of these amphibious vehicles and torpedo boats carried compressed air flasks to launch torpedoes or for other systems. Decades later, many of these tanks remain pressurized. Corrosion has weakened their metal walls, but the immense tension stays inside. Salvage crews know that moving or even cleaning one of these flasks is a huge risk.
