#11: Arabian Oryx
The Arabian Oryx survives in some of the most extreme desert conditions with minimal access to water. Its body is adapted to tolerate high temperatures without excessive sweating. This reduces water loss significantly. The oryx can detect rainfall from long distances, allowing it to seek out fresh vegetation. Most of its hydration comes from plants rather than direct drinking. Its light-colored coat reflects sunlight, helping regulate body temperature. The animal’s behavior is carefully timed to avoid peak heat. It remains active during cooler periods of the day. Its metabolism supports long periods of dehydration.
