Dakar Rally
The Dakar Rally is potentially the most dangerous race out there. It is safe to say that it is not some average motorsport rally but a real man-sport that tests the ultimate endurance of men who think they are capable of crossing a desert in boiling heat. Well, almost. Although the original idea was to replicate what happened to Thierry Sabine, who got lost in the Libyan Desert in 1977, the race takes place in Dakar, Senegal, with pretty much the same basics. Over the years, 50 people have lost their lives trying to cross the finish line.
Because of its daring challenge and potential life threat, the race has caught the attention of automobile makers and fans alike. The interest of corporations has even incorporated new vehicles for testing in this off-road racing sport. Fans like the sport because there is no rule over who can participate. Amateurs can participate as equals as professionals.
