Rolling in the Grits Contest
It is a one-of-a-kind, bizarre contest that we’ve never heard of, and we’re here to know more. For the last thirty years or so, people are drawn to St. George, South Carolina, to the Grits Festival and the iconic “Grits Roll.” The whole shebang goes on for a week, and the contestants get their weight checked before they can get into the pools of grits.
Contestants have to collets grits within 10 seconds, and they can go to any lengths to do so. Some contestants even use their clothes to do so, so many people wear baggy clothing for the competition. After 10 seconds, the contestants are weighed again to see how much they were able to collect. While it might not be the most sanitary competition out there, we appreciate people getting creative with their goofiness.
