Between 1472 and 1475, Leonardo da Vinci worked on The Annunciation while still a young student in his master’s workshop. Decades later, between 1513 and 1516, he completed Saint John the Baptist. This beautiful portrait features a figure standing out from heavy shadows. It represents the peak of his famous shading technique.
