Many people probably feel that making apologetic statements or showing their remorse would win over the judge and encourage him to go light on their sentence. But you don’t want to defend one crime by admitting to another crime, right? That’s what happened to this person, who wasn’t thinking on his feet.

He was on trial for speeding down the highway and shooting into the air, and he tried to excuse his actions by saying that he had too much to drink that night and wasn’t in his right mind. Clearly, that doesn’t make his actions any better! He just admitted to committing another crime and added another charge to the list.
