Snake meat stew
If it seems as if our ancestors just liked eating wriggly things, then you’d be right. Also popular amongst the colonists was snake meat stew, which is much more disappointing than you’d imagine, as well as sounding completely unappetizing to those with a bit of a phobia.
Snake meat doesn’t really taste of anything, so you can put it in a soup or stew with some herbs and spices, and you might not even notice it. If you knew it was there, though, you probably wouldn’t be able to finish it. The colonists, however, didn’t have that luxury. They had to eat what was available to them.
