Tripe
Who knew we’d find something almost as gross as whale vomit that the colonists ate frequently? The problem with needing to use up every part of the animals that you had available to you is that some parts of the animal are disgusting. You’d still have to eat them though or go hungry.
Tripe is the stomach lining of animals, deer or cow for example, and it was very popular in colonial times. It’s also very nutritious, being full of vitamin B12, zinc, and selenium, so perhaps the colonists weren’t that crazy. You still couldn’t pay me to eat it, though, sorry and all that.
