Dublin began as a Viking trading post on the River Liffey over a thousand years ago. Early settlers made simple paths around the marshes and riverbanks, and those routes helped shape the city center. Georgian developers later laid out wide, elegant streets in the 1700s, but old Dublin retained its winding medieval bones. The result is an Irish capital with a warm, approachable personality.
