Matthew Broderick as Simba
Here’s one that may surprise you… Matthew Broderick was the voice of Simba, the grown-up version, in The Lion King. The movie premiered June 15, 1994, and grossed over $400 million. Rob Minkoff, director of the movie has praised Broderick for his role, “Sometimes heroes end up becoming 2-dimensional because they are very difficult roles to approach. Matthew brought a great deal of sensitivity and thoughtfulness to the role along with sincerity and a sense of humor.” The movie became a symbol for many kids who came of age in the late 90s- from Mufasa’s tragic death to the beautiful soundtrack of Elton John, there are some things you just can’t forget!
Where is he today?
Today, 56-year-old Broderick lives in Manhattan with his wife Sarah Jessica Parker and their three kids, James, Marion, and Tabitha. The actor may have gotten his start as the rebellious and hilarious Ferris Bueller in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, but lately, he’s stayed to the small screen and Broadway. He’s set to star in a new television series called Daybreak, which will premiere in 2019.
