What’s in a Name?
Here’s another tweet that started with good intentions but backfired. When 17-year-old Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai won the Nobel Peace Prize, model Naomi Campbell tweeted her congratulations and excitement for the young woman. The only problem? She spelled Malala’s name wrong. That’s a major no-no in any type of communication.
Unfortunately, Naomi didn’t just get Malala’s name wrong by one letter; she wrote it Malaria, as in the deadly disease. We’re sure it was just autocorrected doing its job, but this highlights the tremendous importance of proofreading everything you write – especially when you have millions of followers and people looking up to you. You can’t always count on technology to have your back.
