Too Soon
Comedians have a knack for being able to make us laugh during the darkest times. Sometimes, we need a collective laugh about what is upsetting us or stressing us out the most. You know what they say – laughter is the best medicine. However, as Gilbert Gottfried found, joking about a tragedy is usually considered poor taste. Some topics remain off-limits.
In 2011, when a tsunami struck the shores of Japan, the world grieved for the massive destruction and all the lives lost. It felt very insensitive for anybody to be making light of mass suffering. Fortunately, Gottfried received backlash for his cruel joke, but not before upsetting quite a lot of people.
