#16: Ulysses (1922), James Joyce
If you ask me, this book should have been banned from the outset for being too hard to read and understand. As such, I personally didn’t get past the first page, but I’m told that it’s good. Nonetheless, this is not the reason for its controversy but rather the alleged obscenity contained within. Initially published serially in a journal, one chapter even led to a lawsuit.
