The thought of entering the army can be appealing to the young who have a strong desire for excitement and the promise of new experiences. However, as actor Sidney Poitier will attest, the reality of military life can be overwhelming.

During his time in the army, Sidney was a bit of a renegade. He lied about his age to enter the army and snuck in to work as an attendant in a mental institution. His next task was to figure out how to get out once he was inside. He pretended to be insane, but the fear of shock treatment convinced him to back down.
