Jimmy Carter
Jimmy Carter was in a strong position to join the US Navy’s nuclear submarine program before giving politics a try and eventually becoming the 39th President of the United States. The former lieutenant, who had served as a Luton junior grade, would have gone places if his father hadn’t passed away so suddenly. Instead of continuing his army career, Jimmy chose to retire and work on his parent’s peanut farm.

After making this historic choice, Jimmy decided to leave his farm labor and enter politics. What’s amazing about this beloved former president is that he sold his peanut farm during his presidency to avoid any possible conflicts of interest. In addition, the now 97-year-old man still builds homes for the needy.
