Mel Brooks
Combining humor and military duty in one’s career is like placing magnets on opposite poles together. Nonetheless, we’ve already learned about a few people who have managed to accomplish the seemingly impossible. Another name to add to the list is Mel Brooks. During WWII, the inventor of humorous parodies was drafted into the army.

As a corporal, he helped defuse countless land mines during the Battle of the Bulge. Mel often chuckled at the role he was assigned since it was so far off from what he would become known for doing. The 95-year-old is still alive and kicking, and if you remember, he voiced the elephant doll (Melephant Brooks, lol) in Toy Story 4.
