Ed McMahon

Ed McMahon will forever be associated with the words “Here’s Johnny!” from The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson; the talk show that has left us with such fond memories that it’s almost unfathomable to imagine that Ed served in the military for a quarter of a century before taking on his legendary new position.

He served in the United States Marine Corps in 1941 and became a flight instructor. Ed did not see action with the Pacific Fleet after the war ended with the dropping of two atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, but he got his chance to be on the frontlines when the Korean War broke out.
