50+ of Your Favorite Celebrities Who Were Once in the Army

May 4, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Johnny Cash

When this rock star died, the entire music industry mourned. Johnny Cash was a multitalented musician who was best recognized for his unique take on country music. He became a massive success and sold over 90 million records worldwide.

It gets even more crazy when you realize that he also became a spy while serving in the army, risking his life for the government to get vital information. He joined the US Air Force and flew to West Germany to work as a Morse Code Interceptor. Johnny’s principal responsibility was to intercept Russian radio signals, and he was most certainly among the first to learn about Joseph Stalin’s death, well before the rest of the world.
