50+ of Your Favorite Celebrities Who Were Once in the Army

May 4, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Carl Reiner

Carl Reiner was the type of person who enjoyed everything during his prime. The man had great looks, an easy-going attitude, and he was intelligent to boot. Carl is best remembered as an actor on The Dick Van Dyke Show, for which he, along with the other cast members, would take home seven awards.

He did not join the military of his own free will, but he did not try to fight the decision, either. In 1943, the US Army Air Forces drafted Carl as part of an all-hands-on-deck strategy. He reached the rank of corporal after completing his duty.
