Harvey Keitel
Harvey Keitel, a member of Hollywood’s elite who has acted in numerous box office smashes, including Pulp Fiction and Taxi Driver, didn’t think twice about enlisting in US Marine Corps. He considered it a spiritual journey that wasn’t about battle, but he secretly hoped to see action while serving his country.
He left everything in 1956 to join the marine corps. This included dropping out of college in order to participate in a tour to Lebanon, where he would receive a medal for his work as a fire unit captain. He returned to the United States after the war and tried his hand at acting before becoming the hottest thing in Hollywood.
