Steve McQueen
Steve McQueen’s anti-hero character made him the definition of the “king of cool” to movie fans. His looks and attitude drove girls crazy in the 1960s and 1970s, and his films consistently sold out to packed theaters, resulting in massive box office success.

To add to his already excellent resumé in show business, he joined the Marines at the age of 17 and served until 1947. If you thought he enrolled out of patriotism, you’d be disappointed since, in his own words, he “got tired with standing around and went and joined the marines.” He went AWOL and was sentenced to 30 days in the Brig, and he was hit with a hefty $90 fine.
