50+ of Your Favorite Celebrities Who Were Once in the Army

May 4, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Jack Lemmon

Jack Lemmon was a well-known American actor who won two Academy Awards ever since he first broke into the entertainment industry back in the late 1940s. His debut film was The Lady Takes a Sailor, in which he starred alongside the stunning Jane Wyman. Jack had the right look for the role since, unbeknownst to many, he had previous experience as a sailor.

He joined the Navy during WWII and served as a communications officer aboard an aircraft carrier. He never saw action, and his time in the army was brief. His final big-screen appearance was in 1998’s The Odd Couple II before he passed away at the age of 76.
