Alan Alda
Alan Alda is an American actor and novelist who is best remembered for his portrayal of Hawkeye Pierce on M*A*S*H. He has taken home several Golden Globe Awards and Emmy Awards, and he is well-known for his numerous acting roles and his down-to-earth demeanor.
The actor enlisted in the US Army Reserve after completing his undergrad studies at Fordham University and served as a gunnery officer in Korea for six months. He was able to fully inhabit his all-too-familiar character on film as Captain Hawkeye Pierce, a physician stationed overseas during the Korean War, thanks to his own experiences overseas.
