50+ Car Tips and Hacks So Great We Had to Share Them

December 18, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Potatoes Absorb Moisture

Remember the rice tip from earlier? Well, here’s a more westernized way of keeping moisture from building up in your car. If you have a few potatoes in your kitchen, slice them in half and place them on your car’s dashboard. Halved potatoes work as a sort of moisture absorbent to keep windows from fogging over.

However, make sure you swap the potatoes out on occasion. The last thing you want is a halved potato sprouting roots, which isn’t inherently dangerous to your car, but it is pretty weird to look at. Alternatively, you can leave your car’s windows open to allow moisture out.
